Healthy VITAMIN Buffet for Rabbits and Rodents

The energy that keeps you going!

The Ribero Healthy Vitamin Buffet for rabbits and rodents brings together hay, plants, leaves, flowers, vegetables, roots and selected pellets to provide plant variety, fibre and different nutrients, aromas and textures as part of a complementary diet.

A varied diet for rabbits and rodents should always be adapted to the needs of each species. Good-quality hay should remain the main component of the diet, accompanied by suitable foods and clean, fresh water.

Healthy Vitamin also allows animals to discover different plant-based ingredients while encouraging natural behaviours such as foraging, sniffing, selecting, chewing and exploring.

Vitamins and diet: not all species have the same needs

Vitamins are essential micronutrients involved in many functions within the body.

However, nutritional requirements are not the same for every animal, and not all vitamins need to be provided through supplements.

Rabbits obtain a large proportion of the nutrients they need through a balanced diet. Their digestive system and the production of cecotrophs also play an important role in making use of certain nutrients.

Guinea pigs are different in one important respect: they cannot synthesise vitamin C themselves, so they need to receive it regularly through their diet.

For this reason, the diet should always be adapted to the species rather than applying the same nutritional criteria to all small animals.

Hay remains the basis of the diet

Although Healthy Vitamin includes a variety of plant-based ingredients, good-quality hay available ad libitum should remain the basis of the diet for rabbits and other small herbivores.

Hay provides fibre and requires prolonged chewing.

Offering different aromas and textures can also increase interest in food and encourage exploration.

A varied diet for rabbits and rodents therefore does not mean replacing hay with a large amount of complementary foods, but appropriately enriching a diet whose basis remains forage.

What does the Healthy Vitamin Buffet for rabbits and rodents contain?

Fescue Hay with Apple and Banana

Healthy Vitamin includes fescue hay with apple and banana.

Fescue is a fibre-rich grass whose structure encourages prolonged chewing.

Apple and banana add different aromas and flavours, increasing the sensory variety of the hay.

As they are fruits, they should form part of the complementary diet in moderate amounts.

Vitamin C COAD

The Vitamin C COAD combines hay with different plant-based ingredients in a particularly varied blend.

Its composition introduces different aromas, flavours and textures into the complementary diet.

For guinea pigs, remember that vitamin C is an essential nutrient that needs to be provided regularly through their diet.

Discover the Ribero COAD Range too, with different blends designed to accompany different stages and nutritional needs.

Dehydrated Vegetables

Healthy Vitamin contains a combination of courgette, beetroot, red pepper and green pepper.

Vegetables provide different nutrients and introduce new colours, flavours and textures.

In dehydrated form, they should be offered in moderate amounts as a complementary food.

They do not replace the appropriate portion of fresh vegetables for each species.

Discover VEGETIX, our range of dehydrated vegetables.

Blackberry and Blackcurrant Leaves

The buffet includes a blend of blackberry leaves and blackcurrant leaves.

Dried leaves provide different structures, colours and aromas and help increase plant diversity.

They can also be offered on their own, mixed with hay or used in foraging activities.

Discover our LEAVIX Range, with different leaves and selected blends for rabbits and small rodents.

Poppy

Poppy adds another flower, aroma and texture to the plant selection in Healthy Vitamin.

It can be used in small amounts as part of the complementary diet or mixed with hay to encourage foraging.

Red Clover Leaves and Flowers

Red clover leaves and flowers add another plant variety to the buffet.

As red clover is a legume, it has a different nutritional profile from grass hays.

For this reason, it should be used as a complement and offered in amounts adapted to the species and individual circumstances of the animal.

Pellets: CARROT AND RED PEPPER

Healthy Vitamin is made with carrot pellets and red pepper pellets, made using a steam pelletisation process.

Their small size allows them to be offered individually or hidden among hay and inside toys or dispensers.

Discover our range of Ribero steam-made pellets.

Burdock Root

Burdock root provides a completely different texture from leaves, flowers and hay.

Its consistency encourages the animal to hold it, manipulate it and gnaw it.

For this reason, as well as forming part of the complementary diet, it can also be used as an enrichment item.

Dandelion

Dandelion is one of the best-known plants used in the complementary feeding of rabbits and small rodents.

Its aroma, shape and texture provide a different plant-based experience, and it can be mixed with hay or used in food-searching activities.

Discover these and other plants in our HERBIX Range.

A buffet full of colours, aromas and flavours

Healthy Vitamin brings together very different ingredients in one selection.

Hay, fruits, leaves, flowers, vegetables, plants, roots and pellets provide different colours, shapes and textures.

In this way, as well as complementing the diet, feeding time can become a small discovery experience.

«Because vitality is also nourished by variety, curiosity and little discoveries.»

Plant variety without replacing a balanced diet

The aim of the Healthy Vitamin Buffet for rabbits and rodents is not to provide large doses of vitamins or to act as a vitamin supplement.

Its purpose is to offer a selection of different plant-based ingredients that complement an appropriate diet with new aromas, flavours and textures.

A varied diet for rabbits and rodents should therefore always be based on balance rather than indiscriminately adding supplements or enriched products.

Nutritional requirements may vary according to species, age, size, physiological stage and individual circumstances.

What about vitamin C in guinea pigs?

Unlike rabbits, guinea pigs cannot produce vitamin C themselves and need to obtain it regularly through their diet.

For this reason, their diet should include suitable sources of vitamin C and foods specifically formulated for their species. Appropriate fresh vegetables can also contribute to meeting these needs.

Healthy Vitamin can add variety to this diet, but it should not be used as the sole source of vitamin C or replace a complete diet specifically formulated for guinea pigs.

IMPORTANT

Healthy Vitamin is a complementary food.

It does not prevent, diagnose or treat vitamin deficiencies and does not replace a complete and balanced diet, good-quality hay available ad libitum, or care from a veterinarian specialised in exotic animals.

For guinea pigs, an adequate and regular supply of vitamin C must specifically be ensured through a diet adapted to the species.

For animals with diagnosed nutritional deficiencies, medical conditions, special requirements or those undergoing any treatment, consult your VETERINARIAN SPECIALISED IN EXOTIC ANIMALS beforehand.
